integrity is a fundamental pillar of the credibility of higher education, scholarly research, and knowledge production. However, examination cheating, the copying of assignments and research papers, plagiarism, and the fabrication of data and references pose serious challenges to this credibility. Studies conducted in the Afghan higher education context have identified problems related to examination cheating and plagiarism, deficiencies in some academic writing and research skills, excessive emphasis on grades, and shortcomings in academic monitoring and oversight. At the same time, Islamic Culture courses constitute an important component of Afghanistan\u2019s higher education system, with key objectives that include fostering students\u2019 religious and moral development and strengthening their sense of responsibility and commitment. This study examines the educational and value-based role of Islamic Culture in promoting academic integrity and combating academic cheating in Afghan universities. It identifies the Islamic foundations of academically honest conduct, analyzes major forms and causes of academic cheating, and explores practical mechanisms for strengthening the educational role of Islamic Culture courses. The study adopts descriptive-analytical and inductive approaches by examining relevant Qur\u2019anic and Prophetic texts, analyzing literature on Islamic ethics and Afghan studies on cheating, plagiarism, and the teaching of Islamic Culture, and comparing these findings with contemporary scholarship on academic integrity in higher education, particularly in Muslim contexts. The study finds that trustworthiness, honesty, consciousness of divine accountability, responsibility, justice, respect for rights, and sincerity constitute foundational Islamic values that can contribute to strengthening academic integrity. It further finds that a major contribution of Islamic Culture in this area lies in reinforcing students\u2019 moral conscience and self-regulation alongside institutional oversight. The effectiveness of this role, however, depends on moving beyond a general theoretical presentation of Islamic values toward their explicit and practical application to contemporary academic practices, including examination ethics, scholarly citation, plagiarism prevention, and the responsible handling of data and references.
