a critical approach that combines historical grounding with scholarly analysis of the concept of readings, their types, and the causes of their variation. The study aims to clarify the contribution of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, and their scholarly school to the service of Qur\u2019anic sciences, particularly the science of Qur\u2019anic readings, in terms of teaching, guidance, and authorship. It also seeks to reveal the nature of their position on the plurality of readings and on the claim that the Qur\u2019an was revealed in seven modes. The study adopts the descriptive, analytical, and critical method by tracing the technical definitions of Qur\u2019anic readings, reviewing their historical development, analyzing scholars\u2019 views on the transmission and types of readings, and discussing the relevant narrations in the Im\u0101m\u012b tradition. The study concludes that the science of readings is concerned with identifying the modes of performing Qur\u2019anic words and the differences among transmitters regarding omission, affirmation, vocalization, voweling, pausing, joining, and other forms of pronunciation. It also finds that the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt had a clear scholarly presence in the movement of Qur\u2019anic readings, especially during the eras of Imam al-B\u0101qir and Imam al-\u1e62\u0101diq, peace be upon them. The study further shows that the Im\u0101m\u012b position permits recitation according to the readings commonly transmitted and widely accepted among Muslims, while affirming that the Qur\u2019an was revealed by the One God in one mode. It maintains that variations in readings are largely attributable to transmission, dialectal differences, and the absence of dots and vowel marks in early Qur\u2019anic codices, rather than to any plurality in the original Qur\u2019anic text.
