assessment tools in measuring and developing inferential thinking skills in mathematics among sixth-grade students. The sample consisted of 48 male and female students divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group at a primary school in the Buq\u2018ata area. The study adopted a quasi-experimental approach, supported by qualitative tools represented by classroom observations and interviews with mathematics teachers. To achieve the objectives of the study, two main instruments were developed: a mathematics achievement test and a test designed to measure inferential thinking skills. The validity and reliability of both instruments were verified, and they were administered as pre- and post-tests to both groups. In addition, interviews were conducted with teachers to explore the impact of the implementation. The results revealed a statistically significant positive effect of using task-based formative assessment in developing inferential thinking skills across their dimensions: induction, deduction, and inference. The experimental group outperformed the control group, with an adjusted mean score of 91.87 compared with 87.51 for the control group. The results also showed a large effect size for inductive skills at 28.6% and for deductive skills at 26.1%.
