style='text-align:justify; direction:ltr;'><strong>Abstract: <\/strong> The study aimed to examine the status of girls in the Female Juvenile Rehabilitation Shelter by identifying the causes of admission, the positive and negative repercussions of shelter placement, and the challenges facing the social workers and female guards working in the shelter. It also sought to propose a multi-sectoral intervention and care policy. The study adopted the descriptive-analytical approach using the social survey method. The research tools were applied to a purposive sample of 49 girls residing in the Female Juvenile Rehabilitation Shelter\/Al-Salikh in Baghdad, in addition to a staff sample consisting of three social workers and three female guards, during the period from January 11, 2026, to January 21, 2026. The study used questionnaires and participant observation as data collection tools. The findings showed that economic factors ranked first among the causes of admission, with poverty recording the highest percentage at 65%, followed by early employment at 59%. Family-related factors were also prominent, particularly family breakdown at 61%, neglect at 51%, and domestic violence at 49%. The results also revealed the presence of influential psychological and social factors, most notably psychological stress at 59%, illicit relationships at 51%, and social stigma at 31%, in addition to legal pathways leading to admission to the shelter, mainly police referral at 46%. The study further indicated that shelter placement produces some positive outcomes, most importantly a sense of safety at 39% and access to education at 14%. However, the results also revealed significant negative repercussions within the shelter, including psychological distress at 63%, the formation of groups among residents at 59%, anger and shouting at 59%, and aggressive behavior at 57%. The study also identified several professional and administrative challenges facing the staff, including staff shortages, weak training, lack of supplies, and the absence of clear work plans.
