direction:ltr;'><strong>Abstract: <\/strong> This study aims to examine the role of syntactic structures in directing interpretive meaning in Al-Tabarsi\u2019s Majma\u02bf al-Bay\u0101n f\u012b Tafs\u012br al-Qur\u02be\u0101n, through selected examples from the short surahs. The study proceeds from the significance of Arabic grammar as a central tool for understanding the Qur\u2019anic text, since its function is not limited to identifying the syntactic roles of words, but also extends to revealing the semantic and rhetorical implications produced by sentence structure within the Qur\u2019anic context. The research first discusses Al-Tabarsi\u2019s biography, scholarly status, and linguistic method in interpretation, highlighting his attention to syntax, language, readings, and meanings. It then examines the concept of syntactic structure and the sentence according to classical and modern grammarians, before applying this framework to selected examples of verbal and nominal sentences in Al-Tabarsi\u2019s interpretation. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical method by tracing the instances in which Al-Tabarsi employed verbal and nominal sentences in interpreting Qur\u2019anic verses, and by clarifying the effect of ellipsis, implicit estimation, fronting and postponement, and syntactic position in directing meaning. The findings show that Al-Tabarsi did not treat grammar as a purely formal discipline; rather, he used it as an effective interpretive tool that reveals the purposes of the Qur\u2019anic text and highlights subtle meanings in the short surahs. The study also demonstrates that verbal sentences contribute to expressing movement, action, and renewal, while nominal sentences contribute to establishing meanings of stability, affirmation, and magnification. In addition, ellipsis and implicit estimation expand the scope of interpretation and strengthen the textual connection among verses.
