discourse addressed to the People of the Book during the Meccan and Medinan periods, and to examine the impact of historical context and the chronological order of revelation on the changing nature and objectives of this discourse. The study adopts an inductive-analytical method, supported by a historical-contextual approach, through examining Qur\u2019anic verses related to the People of the Book, analyzing their stylistic and thematic implications in light of selected exegetical views, and linking them to the circumstances of the Islamic call before and after the Hijrah. The study shows that Qur\u2019anic discourse in the Meccan period was generally characterized by gentleness, calling with wisdom and good exhortation, employing Qur\u2019anic narratives for moral instruction and spiritual strengthening, and citing fair-minded scholars among the People of the Book to affirm the unity of divine revelation and the truthfulness of the Prophet Muhammad\u2019s mission. In the Medinan period, however, the discourse witnessed a clear shift toward argumentative debate, rebuke and reproach, promise and warning, and finally disclosure and confrontation. This shift resulted from the changing political and social reality after the establishment of the Islamic state and the emergence of attitudes marked by obstinacy, concealment of truth, violation of covenants, and conspiracy against the Muslim community. The study concludes that this transformation did not represent a contradiction in the Qur\u2019anic position toward the People of the Book; rather, it was a gradual methodological transition required by the nature of each phase and by the changing attitudes of the addressees.
