style='text-align:justify; direction:ltr;'><strong>Abstract: <\/strong> This study aimed to identify the role of internal work stress in the performance of employees in the public transport sector, with application to the Sudanese Sea Ports Corporation in the Red Sea State. It sought to determine the levels and internal sources of work stress and examine their effect on employee performance. The study was based on a central problem represented by the question of the nature of the relationship between internal work stress and employee performance within the Corporation, especially in light of the expansion of work volume and the increase in administrative and technical responsibilities. The study adopted the historical, deductive, inductive, and descriptive-analytical approaches. A questionnaire was used as the main tool for collecting data from a random sample of 50 employees at the Sudanese Sea Ports Corporation. The data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, including frequencies, percentages, median, standard deviation, reliability coefficient, and simple linear regression. The study found a statistically significant relationship between internal work stress and employee performance. The results also showed that task multiplicity, long working hours, receiving instructions from more than one supervisor, insufficient training on modern technologies, and the lack of clarity in some work and evaluation criteria constitute major sources of stress within the work environment. The study further indicated that these pressures may affect the level of efficiency, effectiveness, and job satisfaction, despite employees\u2019 ability to comply with their duties and cooperate with colleagues.
