This study aims to examine the rhetoric of metaphor in the Qur\u2019anic exegesis of Imam Izz al-Din ibn Abd al-Salam, who died in 660 AH, and to clarify its role in directing Qur\u2019anic meaning and highlighting aspects of rhetorical inimitability in the Qur\u2019anic text. The study adopts an inductive analytical approach by tracing the occurrences of metaphor in the Imam\u2019s exegesis, classifying them according to their rhetorical types and relations, and analyzing selected applied examples from Qur\u2019anic verses. The study discusses the concept of metaphor and its authority in Qur\u2019anic interpretation, then presents its most prominent forms, particularly mental metaphor with its various relations, and linguistic metaphor in its two forms: simile-based metaphor and metonymic metaphor. The study concludes that Imam Izz al-Din ibn Abd al-Salam employed metaphor with precision in his exegesis, although he often did not explicitly identify it. It also finds that recognizing metaphorical aspects contributes to a deeper understanding of the meanings of the Holy Qur\u2019an and reveals the richness of its language, the precision of its expression, and the elevation of its rhetorical style.
